The school year is coming.  Faster than we think.  And the United Way Quad Cities is partnering with the First Day Project in asking the community to help 10,000 local students start the year off with essential schools supplies like pencils, paper and crayons.

25,000 students locally will qualify for free and reduced lunch.  Many of these same students will need schools supplies to start the year.

For the 2020-21 school year, schools expect to see even more students qualify for the program because of the number of people who have lost their jobs since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.

One huge additional expense that was not budgeted for schools was hygiene items.  These are needed for the early learning centers to ensure healthy and safe classrooms.

Schools receiving items through Stock the Schools include: Bettendorf, East Moline, Moline, Pleasant Valley, Rock Island and Silvis and UT through the First Day Fund.

100% of all collected items and donations will go to the schools and the early learning centers.

Helping is easy!  Supplies can be dropped off on July 16 or July 23.  You can also shop and give virtually at unitedwayqc.org/givevirtually.

There are two dates for school supply drives. Both will be covid-friendly (masks/gloves on volunteers). Just pop your trunk and donate!
