The SHARP shooter, brought to you by Elite Sportsbook and Rhythm City Casino is our daily blog that will find the best bets the sharps on on for each day.

Sharps, in gambling terms, are the professionals in the gambling industry.  Rarely do the sharps fall on the "fun" bets like betting on the favorites or betting on the over total.  The sharps usually go against public popular line-- taking advantage of inflated lines and mismatched numbers due to a large percentage of public bets on a certain play.

The easiest spots to find sharp plays are in nationally televised games, primetime games, and big games between popular teams with, teams with star players and rivals that get a lot of air time during the week on sports media.

It is important that you do your own homework and look at trends, as well.  Simply going contrarian against the popular public bet won't always be profitable.  Find the games that work best for your bet and your budget.  Pay attention to sharp trends-- you rarely want to be on the wrong side of the pros.

A couple of things before we get into tonight's action:

  • SHARPS went 2-0 ATS in the NCAA games last night.  They also hit the under in both games to stay perfect for NCAA games for the day.
  • PROS were 1-1 on bets for NFL Thursday Night Football.  PROS were all over the Seahawks earlier in the week.  However, they bet the UNDER for the game-- that did not hit.  Final score was 30-29
  • THE PROS ARE A PERFECT 8-0 ON BETS IN THE MLB POST SEASON SO FAR THIS YEAR!

MLB

3:37 P.M. CST, TBS: St. Louis Cardinals at Atlanta Braves

Jack Flaherty (11-8, 2.75 ERA) will get the nod for the Cardinals in Game 2 of this NLDS.  The Cardinals won a thrilling 7-6 game last night in Atlanta.

The Atlanta Braves counter with Mike Foltynewicz (8-6, 4.54 ERA).  The public is backing Atlanta in a possible bounce back game.  Atlanta is actually HOME DOGS in this game at +105.

SHARPS are looking to fade the trendy dog and they are backing the favorite Cardinals in this game at -125.  Books have moved slightly from a -120 open to the current -125.

PROS and JOES are on the OVER for the TOTAL today.  BOTH sides are looking for a continue of last night's high run outcome.  This TOTAL sits at 8 with a hefty -120 juice.

7:07 P.M. CST, MLBN: Minnesota Twins at New York Yankees

The public is heavily in favor of the New York Yankees to win this game.  The Yankees opened up as a -185 favorite with 10 straight game winner James Paxton (15-6, 3.82 ERA) pitching in the series opener. The Twins have first time post season starter Jose Berrios (14-8, 3.68 ERA) to face the Bronx Bombers.

The PROS are in on the value of the underdog money line Minnesota Twins.  The Twins opened as a +170 road dog and have been bet down to +160.

These two teams led the league in homers so it is no shock that 80% of the bets are coming in on the OVER.  The TOTAL is set at 8.5 but has a strong juice of -120.

9:37 P.M. CST, TBS: Washington Nationals at Los Angeles Dodgers

A couple of studs will be pitching tonight for these two teams.  The Dodgers won easily last night 6-0 and will have Clayton Kershaw (16-5, 3.03) throw against the Washington Nationals.

Stephen Strasburg (14-8, 3.68 ERA) is no slouch on the bump either.  In 22 postseason innings pitched, Stras has struck out 28 batters and posted a 0.41 ERA.

80% of the money is coming in on the Dodgers but there have been no signs of PRO money.  Keep an eye on the -155.  Whichever direction it goes, you will know where the SHARPS are going.

The 7.5 TOTAL has not moved, either.  But PROS might be waiting to cash in earlier winnings from the day.

NCAA

7 P.M. CST: # 18 Central Florida (4-1) at Cincinnati (3-1)

70% of the bets are on UCF on the road at Cincinnati as UCF is opened as a -3.5 road favorite.  The public money pushed the line as high as -4.5 in some books.  It currently sits at -4 because the SHARP money came in on the Bearcats as HOME dogs.

The total has seen PRO action, too.  The TOTAL opened at 60 and a lot of money came in on the over-- nearly 80%-- and moved to 62.  There is a sharp line freeze, as the PROS have bought into the UNDER.  The under is 3-1 in Cincinnati games this year and 2-0 when the Bearcats play host.

10 P.M. CST: New Mexico (2-2) at San Jose (2-2)

A Mountain West Conference game after dark gives bettors something to stay up for.  The SHARPS are in on the road dog Lobos, who opened at +7 and has since seen the number fall to +6.5.

The TOTAL has been bet up from a 64.5 open to a current 67.5 TOTAL.

GOOD LUCK AT THE BOOKS! CHEERS!
