Though I haven't had a live Christmas tree in my house in years, I can still remember the smell of the live trees we had in my childhood home.

Despite the watering, the needles, and trying to keep the cat out of it, nothing beats the smell of a live tree.

If you elected for a live Christmas tree, here is a list of dates and procedures for disposing of it now that the holidays are over:

In Davenport, you have until January 12 to leave your tree out on your regular garbage collection day for pickup.

Bettendorf is also picking up trees on regular garbage days until January 6, but remind residents that pickup is a day late this week due to the New Year's Day holiday.

Trees in Moline will be picked up on regular trash day until January 12, while Rock Island's deadline for pickup on regular garbage days in January 6.

All cities require trees to be free of decorations and lights, and left unwrapped.
