If you've gotten gas, or eaten at a restaurant in Hy-Vee recently, you might want to check your accounts. According to Our Quad Cities, the chain detected a data breach.

The hard part is, they don't know exactly when it happened, or which locations it affected. Per reports, the stores are investigating, and currently focusing primarily on "card sales fuel pumps, drive-thru coffee shops and restaurants, including Market Grille, Market Grille Express and the Wahlburgers."

The investigation is still in early stages, so it's best to keep a close eye on your account for awhile. There's no way to know for sure if and/or when someone will attempt to use your information.

Unfortunately, there's also no way to really prevent yourself from becoming a victim. But, experts do say that using credit cards with a chip in them, versus actually swiping a card, does make it harder for someone to obtain your info.
