OK-- so we did this yesterday.  We looked at the most relevant sports stories of the God for saken 2020 sports world and also included links to my best posts of that month.

Basically, as a reader I made you Marty McFly to my Doc Brown.  If you didn't read PART 1-- here is the link.

So on to Part 2...

July was epic and October wasn't.  Please read more to understand and comprehend.

JULY

Well, there may have been some significance in the sports WORLD but nothing was bigger in the state of Iowa than former Iowa football players posting on social media about a racist environment at the University of Iowa football program.  We had "player representative" Robert T. Green on the show-- AND. IT. WAS. EPIC.

OTHER SPORTS STORIES...

  • Major League Baseball throws first pitch of 2020
  • NBA goes to a bubble and resumes
  • The Washington Football Team becomes a thing.

BEST POST I DID OF THE MONTH...

Are you kidding me? It is the Robert T. Green post.  What a clown.

AUGUST

Big Ten football parents gathered outside of Big Ten Conference headquarters to protest the cancellation on the B1G football season.  Weeks later the conference's decision to cancel the season changed and we had football again.

OTHER SPORTS STORIES...

  • NBA bubble playoffs begin
  • The Milwaukee Bucks boycott their playoff game in protest of police shooting

BEST POST I DID OF THE MONTH...

It was my month of COVID.  I did a 3 part series about my altercation with the virus.  It was interesting.

SEPTEMBER

College football is back!!!! After so much worry about the possibility of the lack of an NCAA Power 5 champion for the 2020 season, we have kick off.  And the NFL, too!!!! Are we getting back to normal?  SPOILER: it doesn't.

OTHER SPORTS STORIES...

  • California wildfires interrupt sporting events
  • Tampa Bay Lightning wins the Stanley Cup
  • Naomi Osaka wins the U.S. Open tennis tournament

BEST POST I DID OF THE MONTH...

I did an EXTREME PREDICTIONS post for the 2020 NFL season.  It wasn't bad.

OCTOBER

The World Series was great.  The L.A. Dodgers beat the Tampa Bay Rays in six games and won their seventh World Series in franchise history.  Also, reignited the analytics versus "feel" for the game when the Rays took out Blake Snell who was pitching the game of his life during Game 6.

OTHER SPORTS STORIES...

  • The L.A. Lakers won the NBA Championship
  • The Storm captured their 4th WNBA Championship

BEST POST I DID OF THE MONTH...

I didn't.  I have never followed up to my 3 Part Post about the COVID.  I have never shared this with you guys-- post COVID only led me to depression and lack of motivation.  Looking back on the year and what I have written I see it even more.  I was in a terrible state of depression and the fact that I posted zero sports related things on the site is awful. ZERO posts. It is hard to write this right now.  It took me to mid-November to realize that I was in such a bad state mentally.  I'm doing well now but it was an awful experience.

NOVEMBER

Golf is back!!!! Do I think golf is boring? Absolutely.  But The Masters are different.  I appreciate sports.  So that means I appreciate The Masters.  Dustin Johnson dominated Augusta and set a tournament record -20 under par.

OTHER SPORTS STORIES...

  • The Hail Murray that excited the sports world only to flop in the next weeks

BEST POST I DID OF THE MONTH...

The Locker Room sports audio app allows sports fans to host their own sports talk "show".

DECEMBER

The NFL played football on December 2nd.  It was a Wednesday.  It was the first time in NFL history that a game was played on every day of the week.

OTHER SPORTS STORIES...

  • END OF 2020
  • NBA comes back 72 days later after champions were crowned
  • Break Dancing is an Olympic sport.  Ugh.

BEST POST I DID OF THE MONTH...

No matter how bad 2020 was, I will always be grateful that I got to watch the University of Iowa basketball team.  I was one of a hundred that got to do so.  The Iowa versus UNC game was fun.

OK 2021 BE BETTER.  YOU CAN DO THIS.
