A degenerative brain disease found in too many deceased former football players was found in former Iowa Hawkeye and New York Giant Tyler Sash.

After a thorough examination of the 27-year old's brain, representatives from Boston University say he had chronic traumatic encephalopathy, or CTE.

Sash was found dead at his home back on September 8th.  The cause of death was determined to be an accidental overdose of pain medications.

The defensive back was a standout for the Hawkeyes in both 2009 and 2010, nearly breaking the school record for interceptions in a season in 2009.

Sash was selected in the 6th round by the Giants in the 2011 draft, and was a member of the team that defeated the Patriots in Super Bowl XLVI.

After being suspended for 4 games in 2012 for testing positive for Aderall, Sash was cut by the Giants in 2013.
