Davenport Flood Wall Breaks

A section of the flood wall in Davenport was breached Tuesday afternoon. Water quickly filled the streets, leaving many parked vehicles and businesses partially underwater.

According to Davenport Public Works The HESCO barrier on River Dr failed at Pershing.  The area of Pershing, Iowa and 2nd St is under water.

Public Works, Fire, Police and Emergency Management staff is on the scene and advising the public that travel south of 3rd St is not advised.

Individuals impacted by the breach are being assisted with exiting the area.

Traffic from the Government bridge should exit via the Moline side, 2nd St is not accessible.

The river is expected to crest at 22.2 feet on Wednesday however with recent rain, could go even higher.  The all-time record high of 22.63 feet was set in 1993.

Davenport police have blocked off the surrounding streets as flood waters continue to rise.

Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds Tweeted about the flooding stating "working to make any necessary resources available".
