The Davenport Southeast Little League team will head to Whitestown, Indiana on Friday to begin Midwest Regional play.  The top 2 teams from the region will then head to Williamsprt, Pennsylvania to compete in the Little League World Series.  Usually, only the tournament winner advances to the LLWS-- but because of COVID there will not be any international representation this year.

Although numbers for little league baseball are trending downward across the country, Davenport is thriving.  Davenport Southeast Little League recently just captured the state championship in the 10U, 11U, and 12U tournaments.

There will be a celebration to honor these teams and to send off their Midwest Regional participants on Thursday, August 5 at 6:00.  The Coaches and Teas will be announced to the league and public at the Southeast Little Legue Fields-- located at Prairie Heights Park 5600 Eastern Avenue in Davenport.

The Midwest Regional Games willl be televised this weekend on ESPN+ (subscription required) and the semi-finals and finals will be on ESPN.

The athletes on the team have been recently been featured in the local media and currently have the #2 most popular sports story on qctimes.com/sports.  To read Steve Batterson's piece on the team CLICK HERE

Shortstop/pitcher Luke Martin joined the "Don't Hassle Us We're Local" show today to talk about his experiences this Summer and his anticipation for the weekend.

We are super excited to cheer on these young athletes and hopefully one of the kids will go viral, too.

Good job, kids!  Keep creating memories and keep collecting championships!
