Chicago Bears Hope Not To Doink Out The 2019 Season

Not one.  But two.  Two chances, by inches, for the 2018 Chicago Bears to advance in the playoffs.

Whatever the odds and percentages of a field goal attempt not only hitting the upright but the cross bar as well must be close to being struck by lightning.  That can't happen again in 2019 right?

Cody Parkey is gone which makes most Bears fans happy.  However, so is Adrian Amos Jr. and Bryce Callahan from the secondary along with Josh Bellamy and Kevin White from the WR group.  Most importantly, no longer a Bear is defensive coordinator Vic Fangio who is now head coach Fangio in Denver.

New to the team is safety Ha-Ha Clinton Dix and WR Cordarrelle Patterson.  Plus of course, two new kickers ready to battle to not doink the game winning kick.

The Bears 2019 season hinges on the same things the 2018 season did.  A relentless defense led by All-Pro Khalil Mack and the growth of Mitchell Trubisky.  That is what the Bears can control.  What they can't control are the teams they will play and how much better (or worse) those teams will be.  When you look at the Bears schedule it looks tough.  Cause it is.  Chicago has the 5th hardest schedule based on last years standings.  131-121-4 is the combined record.  (By the way, second easiest is the Patriots.  Which just angers me to my core.)  That record includes a Green Bay team that went 6-9-1 last year.  They should be better.

Plus difficult road games in Denver, in London (vs. Oakland, but you never know about how a team will react to the travel) in Philly and in LA to take on the Rams.  Normally a team wants the easier games to be on the road, that is not what the Bears are going to get this year.

Can Mack and Mitch lead them back to a 12-4 season?  Will Eddy Pineiro or Elliot Fry be able to put it through the uprights?  Can new D-Coordinator Chuck Pagano produce with the players on the field?

The NFL is always so intriguing because of all the questions going into every season.  The Bears have some big ones.  The journey to answer those questions will start on August 8th when they take on the Carolina Panthers in the preseason home opener.  It's football season.
